Transcoding

Deliver Content to Every Device, Everywhere

We simplify your ability to deliver superior-quality video across the ever-expanding landscape of browsers, mobile devices and home entertainment platforms. Utilizing our proprietary Encoding Intelligence™ technology, you can support all popular video formats, including 4K and HDR, while eliminating expensive video infrastructure investments.

Highlights

  • Ultra-fast transcoding

  • Cloud-based, fully automated management of your entire encoding pipeline

  • Support for all popular video formats and codecs for both broadcast and ABR streaming

Blazing Speed

Our high-speed Ludicrous Mode technology helps you get to air first, grow viewership and monetize your content quicker. We also offer the industry’s fastest ingest, queue-time, processing and egress speeds. Using our split-and-stitch technology, HD video can be processed faster than 50% of real-time.

Ingest

We employ several methods to accelerate the transfer of source media content to any of our processing centers, including optimized S3 transit, multi-threaded FTP (3x faster than single-threaded) and support for Aspera FASP URLs (up to 10x faster than FTP).

Queue Time

Once your source content is downloaded, how long will it sit idle before processing begins? The average queue time for our customers is just five to seven seconds.

Processing

When gauging processing performance, it’s important to analyze both parallel ingest/processing capabilities and per-job processing performance. “Maximum Concurrent Encoding” is defined as the total number of videos that can be processed at any moment in time per customer. “Maximum Concurrent Downloads” is defined as the total number of videos that can be downloaded concurrently from the source content storage location, which can be as high as 500 downloads at once. Our On Demand service model allows you to transcode up to 2,000 videos at one time, with multiple output tasks per video, which we process in parallel.

Egress

We simplify your ability to deliver output media files to CDN locations, cloud storage and on-premises storage locations, and popular VOD platforms in a single step.

Encoding Intelligence™

Our Encoding Intelligence technology is the smart way to manage your media processing workflow. You simply tell us exactly what you need, and we choose the best engines and Media Services required to get the job done, assure that it’s in compliance, and deliver it to your destination. Along the way you’ll maintain complete visibility into your project, so you’ll always know what’s happening with it. You can also manage public cloud failover preferences and view usage statistics, as well as add or delete compute resources in your private cloud.

Vantage Gateway boasts support for the broadest array of formats, codecs and containers in the industry. These include MPEG-TS, ProRes (all flavors), HEVC/H.265, AVC/H.264, VP9, MXF, AVC-Intra/long-GOP, JPEG2000, Omneon, WebM, MOV, DNxHD, XDCAM and many more. Shooting 4K and HDR? Let us handle your Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG projects. We also support all frame rates, frame sizes and bitrates, as well as interlaced content.

Audio

For audio, we offer ingest and decode support for multi-bitrate inputs using compressed AAC or uncompressed PCM formats, including stereo, Dolby 5.1 (AC-3) and 7.1 (E-AC-3) requirements. We also support multi-language (up to eight languages stereo, 16 tracks) and descriptive audio.

Closed Captions & Subtitles

Our universal closed caption and subtitling support includes the ability to ingest in-band CEA-608/708 captions and sidecar files, including WebVTT, SCC, DXFP, SMPTE-TT, SAMI and more. We can extract in-band captions and convert to any sidecar format, and mux in captions. Support for multi-language CC tracks is available as well.

Metadata

We can ingest and parse metadata in a number of formats, including XML, JSON and CSV. All API calls to Vantage Gateway are delivered in XML/ JSON. Specific to Dynamic Ad Insertion, we can read the in-band SCTE-35 ad triggers to create ad markers in an HLS manifest, or you can manually set the markers within an API call or via external XML or CSV files. In addition, we can syndicate videos directly to specific video players, delivering the video along with an XML manifest sidecar file.

Graphics

We can ingest high-resolution graphic files in any format, including JPG, PNG and others. Graphics can be converted to different formats and overlaid across videos. In addition, we can concatenate (stitch) pre-produced video slate or advertising assets. Black frame detection is available as well.
