Because of the size and scale of the professional broadcast industry, Encoding.com has made supporting broadcast codecs a top priority. 2014 is shaping up to be the year that lingering fears of the cloud dissipate completely, as large enterprises that have been slower to adopt cloud computing, finally make the move. With this we’ll see a vast migration of larger files, common in the broadcast industry, to cloud infrastructure. We already service several of the largest media companies and content creators. For these customers, our focus has been on transcoding and packaging mezzanine files for web and mobile delivery. As the TV and web continue to converge for both content consumers and creators, we have continued to add support for broadcast and edit codecs. Specifically, we now support MPEG2 TS, Avid DNxHS, Apple ProResHD, Sony HDCAM/XDCAM, and Panasonic DVCProHD. We recently deployed phase one of this initiative, adding the open source FFMBC media processing engine providing baseline support for broadcast formats. This quarter we’re launching the integration one of the leading enterprise encoding engines, with a much more robust feature set to support those clients. More to come. . .In the meantime, visit our API Docs for more information on broadcast format support.
