VP6 Encoding Software

Encoding.com is an enterprise-level, scalable VP6 encoding platform.  VP6 is a proprietary video codec developed by On2 Technologies (acquired by Google) and is supported by Adobe Flash, Flash Video and JavaFX media files.  It was widely adopted prior to the emergence of the H.264 codec, and is used primarily for Internet video and Flash video files.  On2 VP6 is the preferred video compression format for use with the older Flash Player 8. It provides a higher visual quality than Sorenson Spark, especially when using lower bitrates. On the other hand, it is computationally more complex, and therefore will not run as well on older systems.  VP6 supports multi-pass encoding, constant or variable data rates, and advanced error recovery; and can be used to encode high-resolution video, including 1920x1080 HD video streams.

Encoding.com offers 2 presets and XML profile templates for utilizing VP6.  One is called the Flash 8 VP6 preset that utilizes our FFmpeg encoders.  The second is called Flash 8 VP6 Flix Engine preset that instructs Encoding.com to utilze the Flix Engine encoders that provide a more robust feature set for VP6 transcoding.  Of course, you can customize any of our recommended settings, including adding your logo, and save as your own.  Encoding.com can convert many different types of video files for you:  avi, divx, xvid, flv, x264, vob, mpeg, Pro Res, wmv and more. 

You can utilize our VP6 presets via our API, Watch Folders, Web UI or Air app to convert your source video to our recommended output format to ensure your videos will work on the target platforms.
