3GP Encoding

3GP is a multimedia container format that supports MPEG-2, H.263 and H.264 video codecs and was designed to decrease storage and bandwidth requirements to accommodate mobile phones.  Most 3G-capable mobile phones support the playback and recording of video in 3GP format (memory, maximum file size for playback / recording, and resolution limits will vary).  Defined by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) for 3G UMTS multimedia services, the 3GP and 3G2 file formats are both structurally based on MPEG-4 Part 12.  The Encoding.com platform has been designed to make 3GP file conversion a snap.

The Encoding.com 3GP preset and XML profile template is based on the H.263 (Sorenson Spark) video codec, 256k bitrate, and a 176x144 screen size.   Our 3GP encoders also prepare your files for streaming (hinting) so you don’t need to do anything else to your settings.
