I Feel the Need… the Need for Speed!

Your average encoding just got significantly faster as we upgraded our default cloud infrastructure to faster processors with more cores and more RAM.  Enjoy the speed!  Note:  If you currently use our <turbo> encoding option, look out for <twinturbo> to be released in January for additional acceleration of 2-4x over our current turbo processing.

Combine Multiple Videos into One

Ask and you shall receive.  Concatenating one or more videos during the encoding process has been our #1 feature request over the past four months.  Great for adding “bumpers”, ads, or other content to the beginning or end of your videos.  You can access this feature via the Web Interface under the “Add Media” tab, as well as via the API.  And, if you add more than one source media location to a job, we will automatically combine them during  the encoding process.

Syndicate with Encoding.com – Deliver to Multiple Destinations

Now you can use Encoding.com as a true syndication engine and send your encoding output to more than one destination.  If you specify more than one output location within a job, we will send your encoded files to each destination.  This feature is available in the API, Watch Folder, and Web Interface.

New Advanced Encoding Status Messages

We know that our previous status messages weren’t very helpful: “uploading”, “downloading”, “saving”, etc… We recently added 50 new status types to provide you better information and help our Support team isolate errors during the many operations that occur throughout a job’s workflow.  Some examples include: “We are creating an audio only stream,” “Injecting Meta-data,” or “Adjusting Quicktime headers.” To see a real-time sequential list of all the steps during the encoding process, mouse over the Status tooltip in the Encoding Queue tab of the Client Interface.

Watch Folder File Control

Now you can specify exactly which file extensions (*mp4, *mov, etc.) you want our Watch Folders to pick up and encode.  Simply, enter a comma-separated list of extensions for your watched source directory and we will encode the rest.
